North End Pizza | Boise, ID
The owners of North End Pizza had their eyes on Hyde Park for awhile, and when the former gallery space in a historic building on 13th St. became available, they purchased the space. This building, over 100 years old, has been home to everything from the original Boise Co-Op to a bag making shop. Along the way, it survived a fire as well as some poorly executed additions and remodels. Two Plank Construction was hired to take the building down to the shell and do a complete structural renovation. This also included working with the city of Boise to bring the building up to fire code and into ADA compliance. After pouring new concrete foundations, we added steel beams to support the structure and provide the openings for the custom NanaWall windows in the facade. We teamed up with some local woodworkers to build round booths out of Douglas fir, and to clad the back bar with salvaged framing wood from the original building. This culminates in a massive Peruvian walnut bartop to go with custom steel tables fabricated by one of the owners and topped with curly maple tabletops.
